For patients desiring a total smile makeover, porcelain veneers are a popular and effective option. These custom smile enhancements cover and conceal a variety of smile imperfections including gaps between teeth, chips and cracks, and permanent discoloration such as yellowing of the teeth. Because veneers conceal misaligned teeth, this procedure is sometimes referred to as “instant orthodontics”. In fact, porcelain veneers are immensely popular among celebreties because this cosmetic enhancement is so effective at transforming the aesthetics of a patient’s smile.
Unlike other cosmetic procedures that do not require permanent alterations to the teeth, veneers are cemented to teeth permanently. Veneers are crafted by hand in a dental laboratory to exact specifications determined by Dr. Lam. Made from very thin, tooth-like pieces of porcelain, veneers are placed over the front of teeth to conceal stains and other imperfections. By choosing high-grade porcelains, your new smile will appear natural looking because this material closely resembles the appearance of a real tooth. Porcelain also comes in a variety of white shades from which you can choose.
Patients receiving this service will first visit TLC Dentistry for an initial consultation where Dr. Lam will answer your questions and determine if veneers are the best option for your needs. Once the decision to place veneers has been made, molds of your teeth will be taken. Molds are used to determine the shape and size of your custom veneers. Once your veneers are ready, you will return to our office for the placement process. Minimally invasive, Dr. Lam will slightly roughen your teeth to provide a stable bonding surface and apply dental cement to the teeth. Your veneers will then be bonded to your teeth. While the cement hardens, Dr. Lam will make any adjustments necessary to produce a stunning and flawless smile that appears natural looking.
